Viewing the Eclipse at Woodpile

Karen, a founding member of the Chippy Fan Club, sent me some Sky & Telescope Magazine solar eclipse viewing glasses. I am so lucky to have such awesome fans. She read my mind. I didn’t want to miss the most important event of century. I found the perfect viewing spot at the Woodpile.

 Let’s check out these glasses

Boy has it gotten dark outside. Time to put the glasses on.

I didn’t have one of those fancy filters for my camera. So, I borrowed this eclipse photo from NASA. If anyone from NASA sees this post, I want to be the first chipmunk in space. I only weigh a few ounces and don’t need a lot of food. Just a few sunflower seeds.

Chippy Jr.

Because of all the crazy stunts I try, folks are under the impression I am a bachelor. I am married with two kids. I thought I would introduce you to Chippy Jr. I dug out the family photo album.

A big day in all chipmunk children’s lives, is the first day they are allowed to leave the burrow and explore the world above ground. This happens with lots of parental guidance. Here is my wife. Can you see Jr. in the background (hint look for the eye)

Here is Chippy Jr.

Taking a "Dip"

I won some money at the horse races. So, I decided to buy a “Dip Bowl” I saw it in the catalog. I am all excited because the bowl has arrived. I got it setup in the backyard of the woodpile. I ran the hose out and filled it with water.

I thought I would pose with my latest acquisition. Yes, I brought plenty of snacks for my private pool party.

Let’s test the temperature of the water. Perfect.

Time to dive in.

Perfect size for a chipmunk. This is so refreshing, a cool “dip” on a hot summer day.

What is with all the strange looks? What else would you use a “dip” bowl for other than as a pool to take a “dip in”?

Garden Statues

Folks like to decorate their gardens and landscapes with all sorts of statues. Gnomes, bunnies, turtles, and even pink flamingos come to mind. I decided to get Mom a small statue for her birdbath. What do you think? Have you ever seen a chipmunk statue before? Raise your paw if you have.

Everyone wants to know where I got it. Apparently my photo has gone viral on chipmunk social media. … I have a small confession to make. My nephew came to visit his favorite uncle during school summer vacation. I sort ran out of things to do with him. (At least those which are legal.) I needed an hour to myself, so, I bet him he couldn’t sit perfectly still on the edge of the birdbath for an hour. The bet was for 25 sunflower seeds. To make a long story short, I am out a bunch of sunflower seeds, and the birdbath has a new “statue.”
