Chippy Blogging

There is an ugly rumor going around that I (Chippy) have a ghost writer doing my blog for me. This is completely preposterous! I took this selfie using the timer button on the camera. I like to touch up the photos before I post them especially if they are of me.

What is with all the sunflower seeds? I will let you in on a secret, I like to snack on sunflower seeds while working on the laptop. Mom scolds me when I forget to cleanup the shells.

Sports Car

If you remember, we had a pirate ship come ashore recently. We found a chest full of gold coins. The Woodpile got together and we had a big conference to decide what to do with the gold. I (Chippy) suggested we buy a sports car. Everyone thought that was a great idea. We went to Speed Demons dealership to check out our options. A very friendly salesman gave us a great deal on a yellow convertible with a roll bar. I put my paw print on the paperwork.

 “How do you start this car?”

“Okay, I’ll try pushing it.”

Lets check under the hood. Oh … I see the problem … the engine is full of sunflower seeds. I’ll take care of that [munching sounds].”

 

 “Where did I put the keys?”

“It is hard to stay in the seat doing 50 mph. I don’t think this car was designed for Chipmunks.”

“Did you hear a siren? Oh boy, I see blue lights. Lets get out of here!”

New Neighbor – Mrs. Eastern Phoebe

I am excited to report we have a new neighbor at the Woodpile. Mrs. Eastern Phoebe has leased a penthouse condo under the eaves. She got busy renovating the space. Using plant fibers and mud she built a very sturdy nest. The nest is very tastefully decorated with green mosses. There is one long green stem sticking quite a ways out from the nest. Not sure what that is about. According to the Woodpile gossip, Mrs. Phoebe is expecting, that is she is sitting on a clutch of eggs. I borrowed Mom’s “Peterson Field Guide to Birds Nests” and it says we should expect some youngsters in about 15 to 16 days.

 There are four eggs: Three speckled and one white. Phoebe's can lay both colors.

Pirate Ship

The recent storms washed up a ship on the shore of pond near the Woodpile. Bushy got out his spy scope and noticed that the ship had a crossed bones black and white flag. We were intrigued and took a closer look. The white sail was still up but there was no one onboard. We found a chest on the deck. Could this be a real pirate ship?

We hauled it back to the Woodpile. Scarface went to work on the lock of the chest with his lock picking tools. Inside the chest we found gold coins! We decided to use the gold to buy a really fast sports car.

Everyone joined in for the afternoon and we played pirates!
